Target Benchmarks Central Park
As a featured project of the Park’s yearlong 150th
Anniversary celebrations, the Central Park Conservancy and Target Stores invited
53 eminent New York artists, architects, designers, and celebrities to use their
creative talents in turning traditional park benches into unique works of art as
part of the Target Benchmarks Central Park project. Each artist was
provided with a four-foot long unfinished wooden slat Central Park bench.
These are the photos of Anthony
Haden-Guest's work.
The benches were auctioned off at Christie's. The
profits went to the Central Park Conservancy.
Architect Charles Gwathmey provided the photo of the bench on the left, which
was the logo for the event.
